The first few days after I did the virtual 5k in September I was really tired so I decided to take it easy for a couple of days. A couple of days turned into a whole week and after that I just exercised a few times a week, I just walked and didn’t do anything else.
Now, a month later, I realized that I have been taking it easy for too long because I don’t have anything to motivate me like I did before. Even when I was tired after work, the 5k motivated me to walk every day. Now that I don’t have anything to look forward to, being tired is the best excuse.
I don’t want this to become a habit, just making excuses when I’m tired because I’m always tired. But another thing that motivates me is writing about it. So after I exercise I’m going to write about it. I think this will help me, at least until I make a habit of it again. Eventually I will probably get so used to it I’ll probably forget to write about it or just get bored of keeping track of it but for now writing will sort of be my reward for exercising.
I started this week strong with a 45 minute walk and run on the treadmill. At first I thought I would just walk for 30 minutes but once you get started you want to keep going so after the first mile I thought I might do two. I didn’t make it because I was running and got very tired so I stopped when I got to 1.7 miles.
I think I did well today. I’m counting on myself to be able to continue tomorrow and the rest of the week. Now that I wrote this I have no excuses, everyone who reads this is a witness and now I realize writing this might have been a mistake because I can’t quit now.
I’m going to publish this before I have second thoughts.
Wish me luck!
