New York City Day 9: M&M Store, Time Square, Columbus Day Parade, United Nations
Our ninth day in New York City was a girl’s day, it was just me and my mom exploring the city today. Our first destination that morning was to the M&M store. It’s just a really cute store and while we were there we had a look around Time Square and a few more stores close to it.

When we were walking back to get lunch, we got stuck trying to cross Fifth Avenue because of the Columbus Day Parade.. We were not there long until the let us cross the avenue, but we saw a marching band, a Cadillac Club, a social club.

We couldn’t stay and watch more because we had to be at the United Nations Headquarters for a tour. This was a part of our vacation that I did not except, I never thought I would go to the U.N., but I’m very happy I got to go.

It was a little stressful because, just like the Statue of Liberty, there is always a helicopter flying over it. I know this is done for security but the noise made me nervous. By just seeing the helicopters and everything in the news during those days, I thought it would be very stressful in there, but we didn’t see anything like that.

Before the tour you have to check in, they give you a bracelet yo have to wear during the tour and a sticker showing the time of your tour. You have to take this off when the tour is finished so people don’t linger around the halls. As you go into the building you also go through security, just like at the airport, except there was no line when we visited.
As we walked, they gave us a general history of the U.N. they took you to the three chambers where meetings are held and explained what happens in each of those rooms.

I’m an aspiring writer still looking for exactly what I want to write about, with a lot of creativity, imagination and desire to write.
I studied Writing and Rhetoric at Syracuse University where I explored many different sides of writing through my classes and extracurricular activities in order to narrow my search for an identity as a writer.
I have written for Citrus TV Noticias and La Voz magazine, both of which gave me the chance to explore different mediums in which to write in. Through Citrus TV Noticias I also gained experience in translating from English to Spanish and vice versa, which is also something that I would be interested in working on since I am fluent in both of these languages. I was also an intern at Syracuse University Press where I got hands on experience in what goes into actually editing and publishing a book.
Through out the last four years I have faced a lot of challenges, which helped chape the person I am today. After being in a tragic car accident, being in comma, having a Traumatic Brain Injury, and being in therapy for over a year, I am a new me, willing to face challenges and knowing how to deal with them. I want to write about my accident and life after it to help others, show them it can be done and help in any way I can.
