On the last day of 2024 we all had plans about how we were going to spend the last year of this very complicated year; but there were other plans for puertorricans. All of us living on the island woke up to the awesome surprise of not having power, AGAIN!
Was it Lumas’s fault or Genera’s? We don’t know because they were each blaming each other. They f… up and then it’s no one’s fault, what else is new?
Even though no one wanted to spend the last day of the year and possibly the first day of the new year without power, we had to go on with our lives. Luckily, it was not hot today, so I went for a run in Bayamón, on a walking/running path by the river, Rio Bayamón.
I had heard about this but had never visited and it was really nice! They have a biking trail and a separate walking/running trail with lots of trees, places to sit and even stations to refill your water bottle. It’s also well kept and has enough parking at different entrances.
My goal today was to complete my assignment for today, which was 2.5 miles walking quickly and running for four minutes every half mile. I was excited when I saw this because up until now, I always had to run for three minutes. Now my coach is making it a little more challenging for me, but I knew I could do it. I finished it in 33:20 minutes. After finishing this I kept walking and running because I had to wait for my parents to finish their walk and a wanted to see is I could maybe to 3.1 miles or 5k. I ended up doing more than that but I just home I’m not too tired before midnight.
I want to stay up and welcome the new year because I’m ready for a new start and I’m ready to say goodbye to some things about 2024. It has been a year of very mixed feelings, good as well as difficult times and a lot of mixed feelings about myself. However, I have been able to forget these negative thoughts and keep believing in myself, thanks to my family, new and old friends, coworkers ,acquaintances, and even followers.
I’m ending the year happy and excited about 2025. I think a lot of people feel the same way, although I know we’re all still a little nervous about what’s coming in 2025.
I hope this year brings new and good things for everyone!
