After a week of reading in my spare time, I finished Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and I have to say I did not love it. I know that what I was reading was a play and it wouldn’t be the same as the other books but I just didn’t like the story, I don’t think it was good and I don’t think it did justice to the rest of the series. By saying this I’m not undermining all the work they put into it, or the great writer that J.K. Rowling is, because she is amazing and an inspiration.
I just don’t thing they did the best job with the new stuff. Those 7 books have more than enough material to make an amazing continuation, but it seemed like the writers just wrote the first thing that came to mind. There were a lot of characters introduced in the beginning of the story but never seen again. Where they just forgotten? They try to solve the problem doing the same thing over and over again. There are so many spells, why did they always use the same ones?
I don’t want to say a lot more because I don’t want to spoil it for anybody, and if you read the other seven I recommend you read it and make your own opinion. Maybe you see other things I didn’t, or maybe actually seeing it live on stage is a totally different thing.
