I don’t want to complain about this. I don’t want to sound stupid, selfish, or ungrateful; but it’s just something that I noticed in the gym this morning. I have seen it before and it bothers me. It’s the people who go to the gym to be able to say, “I went to the gym” or “ I go to the gym”. They don’t do anything but they can say they were there.

This doesn’t bother me; they can do whatever they want to feel good about themselves and that is not my problem. What bothers me is that they don’t let those who do go there to workout, workout. They go there, talk to everyone, pretend to lift weights; but they just get it, put it down somewhere and start talking to someone. They never touch it again.

Or those who are just texting, the whole time they’re there. They just stand in front of the machines texting. You go and ask if they are going to use the machine, they say yes and then after a few minutes of standing next to it they sit down in the machine. Do they use it? Nope, they just keep texting or looking at their phone. And I don’t get it either, at the gym I just get away from my phone. I leave it in the locker. If people want to talk to me, they have to wait. I just want to listen to music and get away from everything else. I do to the gym for me, to think, to get away from everything. I was thinking about writing this when I was there this morning.

I don’t understand any of this and it really annoys me. First of all, it’s a waste of time and money. Second, what about those people like me, who go to work out? Those people who are very happy they can do all of these things again, like, lift weights or run in a treadmill. I couldn’t walk or use move my right arm, and now I can walk, run and lift weights? I am very happy and thankful I can do all that I can do right now. A few years ago, I couldn’t and I didn’t even know if I would be able to do any of it again, and now that I can; I cant do anything if people are just sitting in the machines, texting.

I just don’t understand how people can take this for granted. The fact that they have the opportunity and the time to work out and do something that is good for them, but they would rather spend all day texting people. You can’t spend an hour or two without talking to someone? What are they going to do if they can’t speak?

Also, we all need some time to get away from our phones at least for a little while. We can’t spend all day tied to those things. Don’t get me wrong, I love my phone, but I also like my time away from it. It’s fun to just put it down for a while and walk away. I only take it out of my locker when I am finishing up so I can call my parents to let them know I’m done.
