Happy first official day of summer and beginning of hurricane season. I know the second one doesn’t bring anyone any joy and summer is bitter sweet because it is so hot outside. Well, outside, inside, everywhere; it’s even hot with air conditioning.
We all knew the nice weather we had been having in Puerto Rico couldn’t last much longer and it didn’t. It started feeling hot in May and today it’s like desert hot, even in my house which usually doesn’t get hot. At least it didn’t feel that way last year when we spent all summer fixing this place up. Maybe it was but I don’t remember it that way.
Last year, I either had to get to work or I would have to move into my parents’ house, a couple of feet away but I really wanted my own place. Every time I mop my floor I remember when my grandpa and I spent more than a day sitting on the floor wiping them down with Clorox wipes and just the thought of all that work pushes me to keep them clean.
I still can’t believe that it was just a year ago that we turned this storage garage into my home. We made a closet into my kitchen:
My room went from this:
We made a closet were there was just a wall. That closet still doesn’t have the curtain I said I was going to close it with but that’s ok, I still have somewhere to put my clothes.
I can’t imagine doing everything we did last year, now. It took all summer but I still don’t know how we managed to do that, I mean, it’s so hot. How can you do so much work when it’s this hot? Just today I had to take breaks cleaning my house; first I vacuumed and took a break, then I mopped and took another break, and I didn’t have to worry about the kitchen because I cleaned it yesterday. I just need to finish my laundry, clean the bathroom and I’m done.
It would be so much easier if the Echo Dot could clean for me in addition to playing music and telling me the weather. I’d love it if I could just say “Alexa, clean the bathroom” and I could just sit down and drink a Piña Colada. Yes, in the world that Alexa cleans my house and does laundry for me (can’t forget the laundry), she also makes Piña Coladas.
