Two weeks ago, after running in the rain one night, I quickly got a cold. This led to me not being able to run a lot last week. I finally got a good workout walking up and down the crowded streets of Old San Juan in Las Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián. This is the big festival hosted every January in the old city that hosts many artisans, artists and musicians.
Taking a short break from running did worry me because I have a 5k coming up this weekend. I knew I had to make up for those missed days this week so I hit the track Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, doing my best every time. Most of the time I was trying very hard to keep track of the laps or trying to figure out how to share the track with so many people, all of us going directions, paces and some just standing on the track.
After politely managing this, figuring out how many laps I had run and how many I had left, I completed my last run of the week, before the race on Sunday, in a pretty decent time. I do have to give some credit to the rain for motivating me to run faster to fish quickly. This time I knew it was going to rain and I was ready with my long pants, cap and rain coat. I wasn’t going to risk getting sick again.
I plan on taking it easy today and tomorrow and only doing a short slow flow yoga video.
I’m an aspiring writer still looking for exactly what I want to write about, with a lot of creativity, imagination and desire to write.
I studied Writing and Rhetoric at Syracuse University where I explored many different sides of writing through my classes and extracurricular activities in order to narrow my search for an identity as a writer.
I have written for Citrus TV Noticias and La Voz magazine, both of which gave me the chance to explore different mediums in which to write in. Through Citrus TV Noticias I also gained experience in translating from English to Spanish and vice versa, which is also something that I would be interested in working on since I am fluent in both of these languages. I was also an intern at Syracuse University Press where I got hands on experience in what goes into actually editing and publishing a book.
Through out the last four years I have faced a lot of challenges, which helped chape the person I am today. After being in a tragic car accident, being in comma, having a Traumatic Brain Injury, and being in therapy for over a year, I am a new me, willing to face challenges and knowing how to deal with them. I want to write about my accident and life after it to help others, show them it can be done and help in any way I can.
