After the accident, I heard my mom talking about Malala. I first heard people talk about her about three years ago when my mother explained to me that she was a Pakistani girl who was shot when she was about 15 years old for wanting to go to school. She told me that she survived and was fighting for girls to be allowed to go to school.
I had been in the hospital too and was fighting something, but I was just fighting to get my life back. Malala Yousafzai was and is fighting for something bigger. Ever since, I have been amazed at this girl’s strength, bravery. It took me by surprise when she was the youngest person to win the Novel Peace Prize; but I was so happy. She really deserved it.
She is a great example, not only to girls and young people, but also to everyone. Her courage, to stand up and fight for her right to go to school and her drive when she didn’t give up after being shot and determination to get what she knows is right. I believe this young woman is not only opening a lot of doors to girls and women, she is showing the world that age doesn’t matter. She can be stronger and achieve a lot more in her teenage years, than most people do in their whole life. She is not interested in hearing what people say about her or how famous she is; she is just doing what she knows is right.
I was very happy when I saw that she has made such an impact around the world that a movie was made about her; telling us her story. I was very excited to find out about this movie. I can’t wait to see it and this is just the beginning of her story. This girl is just getting started changing the world and I can’t wait to see where she goes next.
