Since the beginning of the year I’ve wanted to go on vacation to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of my TBI. We tried to planning many different things but finally landed on a trip to Florida to visit my aunt, go to Disney, Kennedy Space Center and Saint Augustine.

I wanted to go to Disney World to visit see the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge part of Hollywood Studios. Apart from seeing all the new shops and others additions, I went on the new ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. That part of the park was worth the trip to Disney.

Another reason I wanted to visit that park was to got on the Rock’n Roller Coaster Ride, which I had not ridden the last two times I had been there because I was told not to ride roller coasters by my neurologist. This time I asked for my neurologist’s permission to go on a roller coaster before the trip and he said yes. I was really looking forward to that, until I went on the Shuttle Launch Experience at the Kennedy Space Center.

This attraction simulates a space shuttle launch while making the sounds and movements the real shuttle makes. It didn’t make any sudden movements or anything like that but just the shaking and the noises were difficult for me to handle. After that I decided I couldn’t go on Rock’n Roller Coaster. I later tried to convince myself I could, until I remembered there is a part of the ride you go upside down.

Even though I didn’t go on that one, I did ride my very first roller coaster in ten years that day. I got on the Slinky Dog Dash in Toy Story Land. That was a lot of fun because it wasn’t too scary, but it was still thrilling.

In Florida we also visited Cocoa Village as well as Cocoa Beach, where we saw the USFF-44 mission launch from the beach, went to Saint Augustine, walked around and saw Castillo de San Marcos, “the oldest masonry fort in the continental U.S.

I got back four days ago and I am still so tired but I really enjoyed this vacation. We didn’t take a break but did so much more than I thought we were going to do. I had a great time with my parents and aunt and I’m so happy we were all able to enjoy this and have a good time.
