After completing my first 5k this year, I signed up for my next two. The one in February is next weekend and it happens to be Córrelo, camínalo o ruédalo, the first race I did after my TBI. I have already completed this race three times, now I’m going for my fourth. After that is the one in the botanical garden.

Today, I signed up for a bigger race, where I had the option to choose between a 5k, 10k and a 16k. I was leaning towards the 10k but wasn’t really sure if I am ready for that, so I asked my coach what I should do.

My coach is a man of few words and his answer was simple, “10k”. I didn’t wait around for an explanation or ask anything else, I was interested in that one, I just wanted reassurance that I am ready or will be ready to handle that.

Even though it’s in April, when the weather won’t be as nice as it is now, it will be in Jajome, in the mountains in Cayey, where the weather is always nicer than San Juan. Jajome has been described as the perfect place for running so it seems like a great place to run my first 10k. This race is also in the morning, so it won’t be too hot and I will be running right after sleeping for 8 hours, which helps a lot.

I will have to keep going to the running trail in Bayamón by the river. Last week I decided that I wouldn’t run so much on the side that has the hills but it looks like that will be the route to help me get ready for my first 10k.
