To change our weekend routine, my family decided we should go on a hike on Sunday, so we went to Cañon San Cristobal in Barranquitas. I had never been there and didn’t know what to expect, I just knew that is was going to be hot.
Because it was going to be very hot, we decided to start the walk early. We started walking at around 8:20, which felt too early for me, but we crossed paths with a few people finishing their walk. If I had to wake up at 6:30 to be there before eight 8:30, I don’t want to know at what time those people started walking or what time they woke up.
We had to be very careful not to slip because trail we had to follow was filled with leave, branches and we very muddy most of the way. It didn’t feel very difficult to creek because it was mostly down hill, but going back up was another story.
Getting to the end of the trail and seeing the beautiful cascade going down the mountain and into the river made waking up so early worth it.
After seeing the cascade, taking a few pictures and drinking some water, we headed back. This time, most of the walk was uphill and this time it felt a lot longer. Just when I thought we couldn’t walk up any more, I took a few steps and saw that then it just kept going.
I was so happy when I saw the end of the trail. It was a little after 10 am and It already felt really hot so was very glad I woke up at 6:30 and started early. It took us 1 hour and 50 minutes and that hike was 3.16 miles.
I was so tired I went to sleep early yesterday and woke up late today but We all really enjoyed it and we’re already planning the next one.
