As the month of May came to an end, I finished the challenge I started at the beginning of the month, the 12 day Bring Out Your Inner Champion with Kickboxing Challenge on Apple Fitness.
Despite it being only 12 days, I took days in between each video and some rest days as well so it took me all month to finish. I realized this week that I would have to hurry if I wanted to finish before June. I had to squeeze the last three videos in quickly last week so I could finish in time. I’m very happy to have been able to finish on Friday, May 31st.
Apart from that challenge, May was a very busy month, in a good way. I celebrated my birthday for several days, like I always do. I have a lot to be happy about; I have a good job, a great family and friends, I’m healthy and I have the two cutest and best dogs. I’ve had a lot fun meeting and getting to know new people, one in particular who’s I company I really enjoy.
We have been on a few adventures together and yesterday decided to go paddle boarding for the first time in Laguna del Condado in San Juan. I was a little nervous, mostly about falling, but excited at the same time. I have been curious about it for a long time and I wanted to see if I could really do it.

As soon as I was shown how to do it, I relaxed when I heard I could kneel and even sit on the board. I decided to start kneeling, especially since we had to go under bridges before we got to the lagoon. It wouldn’t have been much of a problem if I was standing because I’m not tall, but it was still a little scary. It was also very shallow under the bridges, and I got stuck on rocks under the bridge. That was right when we were beginning so I immediately thought it might have been a bad idea, but as soon as I was able to figure out how to get out of there, it went a lot more smoothly.

The thought of standing up still seemed a little nerve wracking, but my knees were already starting to hurt by the time I was in the lagoon, so I just sat down on the board. That was a lot easier, but it was still a lot of hard work on my arms, pushing the paddle into the water since in the beginning we were going against the current.
Once we got to a corner with sand that was a little shallow and the wind didn’t feel so strong, I decided to try to stand up. I remembered the instructions I had just been given and successfully stood up. I didn’t paddle, I just wanted to prove to myself that I could stand.
We paddled a little more in the lagoon before we decided to head back to the marina where we rented the boards, an hour before we had to get back. We were both so tired after just one hour and I’m still tired today.
Paddle boarding was fun and I’m glad I finally had the courage to do it and didn’t fall, but it’s exhausting. I had a great time but next time, we’re renting a kayak.
