Yesterday I woke up early for my first Wednesday morning run with the running group. I wanted to go to that on because it was the last run of the year at the University of Puerto Rico Botanical Garden.

University of Puerto Rico Botanical Garden

I was very relaxed because, even though I had to hurry to get to work, the Botanical Garden is a beautiful place where you’re surrounded by nature. I didn’t have to worry about cars although it’s not an easy run because there are a lot of hills in there so it’s not an easy run. Regardless, I still wanted to enjoy my last run of 2025 and was taking pictures along the way.

As we got to the highest point in the garden, because I was looking at the camera and not where I was walking, I slipped and fell on the very cracked floor. I scraped my knee, part of my leg and my hand. I was fine walking back but didn’t really want to run anymore and I didn’t finish the three miles.

Even though I fell because I wasn’t paying attention where I was going, I’m glad I went on this last run of the year with my friends. They were with me from start to finish and even helped me clean the cut with alcohol when we finished.

I’m always worried I’m going to fall and it happened s when I least expected it. This was a reminder to pay attention where I’m walking, stop if I want to take a picture and just don’t try to do everything at once. I hope the scar reminds me of that during my runs this year because I want to run more but still avoid injuries.
