Yesterday I finished the first seven days of the 14 Day HIIT and Strength Challenge . That means I only have seven days left in the challenge.
The first couple of days went well, I was tired but I had no problems doing either the HIIT or Strength videos. However, the last few became a little difficult. It wasn’t due to the intensity of the workouts, that I can handle, it was the strength videos. After doing so many Strength videos so frequently without a rest, my right arm started to hurt. This is the arm that I broke in the accident and had surgery on. It had been hurting while I do the videos and after and this made it a little difficult to do the workouts as well as I usually can. When they say to use medium weight dumbbells, I usually use 5 pounds dumbbells but yesterday I decided to use 3 pounds. I used the 5 pound dumbbells when they said to used heavy dumbbells even though I always use 8 or 10 pound dumbbells.
While it didn’t feel like I was doing the best workout, it didn’t hurt and this is what I wanted. That’s a lot better than not doing anything because I still want to be able to workout, but I don’t want my arm to hurt.
That’s why today, instead of starting the second and last week of this challenge right away, I decided to give my arm a chance to rest for a day and did a slow-flow Yoga video. This 30 minute workout included a lot of stretches and nothing hurt when I finished or during the test of the day.
I feel well enough to start the challenge again tomorrow. There are only three Strength and four HIIT workouts left and now I feel like I can do that. Taking this small break from the challenge today will help me finish the challenge without being in pain for the next week.
