Before the new year started, I was already thinking about my next race, but I still hadn’t decided. It was either one very early in the morning close to my house or one 2 hours away on a Sunday evening. I picked the one close to home, that was the obvious choice, but I didn’t want to make myself wake up really early.
Now that I have a race in a few weeks, I have more motivation to keep training. I already completed all the routines my coach sent me this week, even the tougher Saturday run. I had to run for eight minutes, then walk for two, for 5 miles.

I went to the running/walking path I went on last week, but this time I ran on the path that went in the opposite direction. Since the instructions were also different; the distance and the amount of minutes I had to run were longer, but the walking time was less, I was very happy I had a lot of things to keep me distracted and not get bored.

I was pretty strict with the running and walking times, but 53 minutes in, a little over 4 miles, I started feeling tired. I knew if I wanted to finish I had to rest for a minute, so I stopped the timer and sat down on the first bench I saw.
When I felt I was ok, I kept running. At this point I was running a little bit slower than I usually run, but my goal was just to finish, and I did! It took me 66 minutes, but I did it! This is the longest run I have done so far and I am so proud of myself for doing it.
If I could run for 5 miles at 9:30 AM, I think I can run for 3.1 at 6, when it’s even cooler outside.
