I was very happy last week after I got home and was able to go back to running on the track like I usually do. I was even more excited for my weekend long run. I thought it would be six miles again, which is a lot easier on the track than the treadmill.
I was so happy I didn’t even look at the distance I had to run until right before I started. I really should have looked at it before and maybe woken up earlier because I had to run eight miles. I was a little surprised when I saw that, I hadn’t run that long in a while, but I was feeling a lot better about my ankle and after running six miles on the treadmill, I was pretty confident I could do this.

I was a little thrown off because I forgot to bring my hat and the sun was shining very bright , even though it was only 8:00 am when I started. I also left my watch at home but I was still able to track my run through the Strava App on my phone. I had a little trouble keeping track of how long I ran and how long I walked but I did my best to keep track of it in my head using thee songs. Songs are usually about three minutes long.

Despite all of this I was able to finish my weekend long run. Yes, it took me a little longer than I thought; it took me 2 hours and 6 minutes, but the important thing is that I finished.

The day after that long run was my appointment to see my doctor about my ankle. On my first appointment he barely put his hand on my ankle and I was immediately in pain, so he knew something was wrong. He knew I was a lot better when nothing hurt this time, but he still told me to be careful and not put too much pressure on it too soon.
I am doing a 5k race next weekend and he said that’s ok. What I didn’t tell him is the half marathon I’m doing in three weeks, but I’m not worried about that and my coach isn’t either.
