Yesterday, my coach had a new challenge for me, no more running half a lap or part of it. This time, I had to run one lap in 3 minutes, no more no less. If it took longer I had to run faster, if it took less I had to slow down.

He told me I could keep track by looking at my watch to see if I had to slow down or speed up. I tried it but I couldn’t see the numbers while I was running, so I ignored it and just ran.

When I finished my first lap, my watch said 3:08, but my coach who was timing me said it was 3:04. I thought he would tell me it was too slow, but no, he said I did a very good job. After that I walked one lap and then ran another one in three minutes again. I finished in three minutes and just above four seconds again twice, but the last lap was 3:15. I was definitely tired then because the track was almost empty by that time.

When he first told me, I was sure I wasn’t going to be able to do it, so I was shocked when Freddy, my coach, told me I did well. I have always considered myself a slow runner, but I guess I’m not that slow. I’m really proud of myself for being able to keep up with the task they gave me.

In other news, Indy is doing a lot better. Last time we took her to the vet, she told us she was doing really well and we should keep doing everything we’ve been doing. That means no running, no jumping and a lot of rest. We have been doing everything we can, like keeping her in controlled areas where she can’t run or jump. I help her up or down to and from the bed or sofa when I can but she’s a dog and there are some things we can’t control.

On the positive side, the fact that even when we tell her no, sometimes she wants to run and jump means she feels better and her hip doesn’t hurt anymore. Also she’s eating again; she hadn’t been eating much since the accident. I really hope this means her hip is doing even better and she is closer to healing.
