On Tuesday night, I was able to jog for two miles on the track without taking any breaks to walk, just like I was supposed to. I was able to finish 23 minutes and 24 seconds and finished each mile in a little over 11 minutes. That’s more than a minute faster than my regular 13 minute mile. I can sometimes run one mile in eleven minutes, but not two in a row.
I had only been able to jog two miles without any breaks once a couple of weeks ago, while I was on vacation, on an empty track in the morning. I didn’t think I would be able to do that after work, with a lot of distractions, on a crowded track. But all that didn’t stop me from doing it again this week.

This was a big surprise for me because I didn’t feel that tired and hadn’t been running fast. But that was it, I hadn’t been trying to run fast, trying to pass anyone, then slow down because I was tired. I was just running at a steady pace, fast for me but not fast enough to feel tired or out of breath.
I never got how people could do this, jog for miles without resting or taking a break, but now I know you just need to find a comfortable pace and keep it. I’m not used to that, I usually try to go faster at some point. Then I get tired and walk but can’t even walk fast because I’m tired.
I have only been able to do this in an empty or not so crowded track, I don’t know if this applies to a different route with hills and a lot of other people around or if I can keep it up for more than two miles. I’ll try it at my next race this Saturday and I can finish a race again in less than 40 minutes, or somewhere closer to 35.
