We did it, we walked again this weekend; first on Saturday night night then again on Sunday morning. Both days we walked in Old San Juan but we took different routes, we don’t want to get bored of the same thing.

It was a little difficult on Saturday night because we had to go up through the streets of San Juan to get to El Morro but the streets were a little crowded. A lot of people go to San Juan at night to hangout and have dinner so it took some time but we made it up there.

When we got there we saw that there were artisans selling their art in Ballajá, that’s why there were more people that usually, so while we were there we decided to look around. I would have liked to look around more, the artisans make very pretty jewelry but there wasn’t really a lot of room and I didn’t have any money with me so we decided to go.

On Sunday we decided to give it another try, this time a different route again. We parked down by the beach and walked up to San Juan through the north where you can see the ocean and the wall the Spanish built around the city.

When we got to the city, that’s when it got difficult because we had to go up a very steep hill next to one of the Spanish forts.

After we made it up that hill it made no sense to end the walk there, so again we walked all the way up to Ballajá.

This time we didn’t go in, we quickly turned around and walked right back, not stopping to rest. We were tired, hot, thirsty and hungry but if we stopped to rest I don’t think we would have kept going. The only thing that kept us going was the thought of getting to the car, sitting down and turning the air conditioner on. It also helped that this time I remembered to bring a bottle of water. It was not fun carrying it but having a drink of water every once in a while was necessary.

In the end we walked for an hour and twenty minutes and it was 3.78 miles. I’m just getting started going on walks again so I don’t know but I think that’s a lot for a Sunday morning walk. On Sunday you’re supposed to rest, not walk over 8,000 steps before lunch but now I know I can do it so, why not?
