Today I want to be very thankful that my dog, Indy, is doing a lot better. She went back to the veterinarian yesterday and she is doing well. Her hip is doing a lot better but her left leg is still tied up in a cast. She can’t stretch it but she wants to walk and she can balance herself on her other three legs and has even walked that way. I don’t think she wants to wear it anymore but we have to follow the vet’s rules.

As of today, it is officially holiday season and for a second in September I thought this year would be horrible. I was in such a dark place, I didn’t think I would be happy again by November, yet the holidays are here and I feel just as excited as I always am.

Today was a great way to start; I had a productive morning with a workout, cleaning the house, a little more decorating, followed by a small, fun lunch with immediate family.

Mofongo stuffing was the best!

I’m very grateful to have found and joined Freddy’s Runners and have been able to keep up. That helped me stop thinking about what happened earlier this year and start working hard to achieve something. I stopped thinking about what I would have done differently in the past and started thinking about what I will do now. I have been taking it day by day, pushing myself when I have to but not expecting anything from anyone. I have a cheering squad; my parents, aunts, grandparents, brother, sister in law, friends and my coach. They all help keep me motivated, which helps me focus, keep getting better and more excited about this new hobby. This week I signed up for a third 5k this year in just a couple of weeks. I hope this goes just as well or maybe better than the last two.

Before I forget, I’m also thankful I haven’t had any seizures this year! Going for 10 years seizure free next year!

I’m looking forward to this holiday season and I’m going to enjoy and make the best of what’s left of the year.
