Last night, as I was ready to go to bed, I began to worry I might have forgotten to get labs done for this morning’s appointment with my neurologist. I calmed down when I realized that I didn’t have to bring him any results this time, just good news that I am still seizure free.

I wanted to talk to him again about my running. He had never had any worries about this regarding my epilepsy but, I on the other hand do. I mostly worry about how waking up early to run means sleeping for less than the eight hours recommended for epilepsy patients. I was relieved when he said I should go to sleep earlier on the days before so I start waking up earlier on the days leading up to an early morning run.

It was such a relief hearing him say that because that is exactly what I had been doing ever since my first 10k in March, when I had to wake up around 3 am. It worked well up until now but I still wanted to make sure there was no problem with me doing early morning runs, especially since I might do one in two days.

While I was there I asked him about my neck pain. He said it’s normal, and it can be treated with pills but the doesn’t want to put me on any more medication. I don’t want more medication either.

After I asked all my questions and got all the answers I needed y was given more good news, I won’t have to get the EEG until April! I thought it was in January and was already dreading it. This however, makes me very happy.

Getting good news from my doctor is always a great way to start celebrating Christmas, end the year and start a new one.
