This year I had two New Year’s resolutions. I have been doing my best to keep the first one which is writing more, but I hadn’t even started the second one, running again, for a number of reasons, including Covid. Now that that’s not an excuse anymore, I decided to stop wondering why I haven’t started or trying to plan when I would start and just start today. What was I waiting for, January is almost over!

I don’t just want to run, I want to make it part of my workout routine again. I began my routine with 46 minutes on the bicycle, then I did a 30 minute strength training video and finished walking and running for another 30 minutes on the treadmill.

I surprised myself by running more than I thought I was even capable of. I usually time myself with the songs I listen to while I’m running, today I started running halfway into a song and finished another one so it was about 5 minutes. I wanted to give up close to the end of the second song but I pushed myself to the end.

I know I can do better than that once I start running every day but it wasn’t bad for my first day back.
