Happy Birthday!

May 17... another birthday!!!! Today didn't begin like any other birthday, at least not any I've had. I had a job interview this morning, which is not a normal birthday celebration, but being my birthday I think it gave me more confidence; I was thinking it has to go well because it's my birthday.  I want to … Continue reading Happy Birthday!

Happy Day After Mother’s Day!

I planned to have my Mother's Day post yesterday, on Mother'sDay, but doesn't it stand out more when it's the only Mother's Day post you see today? I hope everyone got to spend the day with their loved ones and that all mothers got the thanks and love they deserve all year long. Not only … Continue reading Happy Day After Mother’s Day!

The world got brighter with new eyes

Today, before finishing my Mother's Day shopping, had an appointment with the optometrist. I had no idea but the last time I had my eyes checked was two years ago. In my defense, with so many doctor's appointments, it's hard to keep track of that.  I wasn't seeing things that clearly but I thought that … Continue reading The world got brighter with new eyes

Can’t imagine life without them

My dogs need attention, they've always had it because there is always someone with them. I'm always here with them on weekdays, not having a job works in my dog's favor and we, very rarely, leave them all alone here for a long time. They know that when I'm the only one here, they are … Continue reading Can’t imagine life without them

With the right attitude, you can do anything

Yesterday I met a new friend, Gabo. Gabo is an amazing human being and in just three hours he taught me so much, because he is not afraid of what will they say? He knows what he wants and he just goes out and does it, like his job. How did he get it? He met … Continue reading With the right attitude, you can do anything

Seizure prediction hardware

Engineers are developing hardware that could predict and help prevent epileptic seizures through a seizure-prediction algorithm. Using these algorithms, the hardware would send signals to the electrodes in the brain predicting seizures in real time and apply electrical stimulation, preventing the seizures. I still can't believe they were able to come up with this and that … Continue reading Seizure prediction hardware

It is May second, year 2016. Some people call it my second birthday, I sometimes do too, but today I call it the day. It is, or was, the day that changed me, and has defined the last… 4? Yes, that’s right, four years of my life.

Remembering- Today I celebrate 3 years of getting a second chance

mariacristinasanfeliu's avatarUnstoppable María

Sitting in my room, in front of the fan because it’s so da… hot, listening to Pandora, and writing. I didn’t imagine I would be doing this, three years ago. I had different plans. I knew I would be writing, I just didn’t think I’d be back home. But you can make all the plans you want, but that doesn’t mean they will come true. What you want and what life will give you are two very different things, you just have to be ready to deal with what life throws at you, like it or not. I never wanted what I went through three years ago, or anything like it, but I got it and I had to deal with it.

I look back at these three years and I never imagined most of what has happened, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t enjoyed it. I have learned a…

Cooking with Maria and Fransheska

Today my friend Fransheska and I decided we wanted to cook a meal together. I have not really cooked in 5 years, not a real meal on the stove and chopping and mixing ingredients in a pan, kind of cooking. So I decided that I had to make something with a lot of ingredients that … Continue reading Cooking with Maria and Fransheska

What surgeons can do with a 3D printer

What do you think Gutenberg would have said if they told him one day we will be able to print objects?  He would probably say that was witchcraft, I live in the 21st century and I honestly didn't get it or think it was possible until I saw it, it was mind blowing. I thought … Continue reading What surgeons can do with a 3D printer
